I’m just an average “senior” trying to live life to its fullest. My passion is travel, primarily by motorcycle.
I’ve ridden either my bike or a friend’s bike in Germany, Austria, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Guatemala.
I currently live in Kansas City, MO, (that’s Missouri, not Kansas) and about all I can say about KC is it’s a nice place to travel from. I love my home, neighborhood, pets and friends so I’m going to stay in KC for the foreseeable future.
I retired from Blue Cross in KC about 4 years ago and enjoyed being retired for a couple of years. Then,. my retirement fund tanked and I had to go back to work so I had some “fun” money. I got a job as a security guard which turned out to be the perfect retirement job. I worked all last summer and decided I didn’t want to work this summer and miss out on enjoying all that the summer has to offer. So, I turned in my resignation the first part of May and my boss decided to give me the summer off and I can have my job back in September. That worked out quite well!
This blog will start with my upcoming trip to Oregon, Minnesota and points in between. Then I’m heading to the Folks Fest in Lyons, CO, in August and then it’s back to work to save up for my BIG upcoming trip. In September of 2011 I plan on shipping my bike to Colombia and riding the entire length and breadth of South America hopefully arriving in Ushuaia for Christmas and New Year. All in celebration of my August 28, 2011, 70th birthday.
